The school uses a system of regular assessments throughout the year based on a students attitude to learning, current performance and projected outcome. The format used reflects National Curriculum levels in Years 7 to 9 and GCSE grades in Years 10 and 11.
Information collected is used to produce interim and summative, end of year reports for all students. It is also drawn upon to inform mentoring sessions, which involve one to one discussions between a student and their Form Tutor. During this time performance is discussed and negotiated targets are set to maximise the chances of students fulfilling their potential. This is carried out in an atmosphere of positive achievement that enhances the motivation of students and increases their commitment to learning.
Parents attend consultation meetings each year with the subject teachers to explore their children’s attainment as well as attending other specialist evenings to discuss Key Stage 3Testing, the curriculum at Key Stage 4 and transfer to post-16 institutions.
