I am delighted to be able to introduce myself as Headmaster of Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College. Originally from Bootle, most of my career has been spent in Inner London schools, including positions in Haringey, Tower Hamlets, and Walthamstow. I have been privileged to have been involved in setting up and transforming schools, and bring to Abbs Cross a passionate commitment to the education of young people.
Key to my own educational philosophy is an emphasis on the traditional values of self respect, discipline and responsibility, summed up perhaps in the old motto of "non scholae sed vitae discimus”, or “not for school but for life do we learn". The success of Abbs Cross is the result of a true commitment to educating the whole person, through strong academic support, excellent teaching and supportive staff, but most of all exceptional opportunities for the students to lead on whole school initiatives and community projects.
Already I have been made to feel very welcome at the school. The students in particular are a credit to the whole community and I have been enormously impressed by the standards that they set themselves and the contribution that they make to the school.
I am immensely proud to be a part of the “Abbs Cross Family”, as one of my colleagues described it, and look forward to working with all of our students and families for years to come. These are exciting times in education and we can be sure that all members of our school community will continue to strive and work hard to build on our successes.
